Dunk Knights stole the show at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu in the opening round of the 2018 Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division II.
Knights pulled off a surprise 60-59 win over highly ranked veteran side Panthers to get the new campaign off to a blistering start.
Panthers held the game’s lead via a 3-1 result in the first minutes of the quarter but Knights went on a 7-0 run to take the lead. Panthers Guard Kenneth Caesar tied the game at 12 with two minutes left to play. Prince Lumorvi drained a jump shot to give Knights an 18-12 first quarter win
Panthers endured another scoreless run but rallied late in the second quarter to clinch a 34-32 lead after a game tying buzzer beating jumper from Dunk was ruled out
Selorm Kuwornu and Paul Eta scored four points each as Panthers threatened to tie the score at 51.
Eta gave Panthers a 55-54 with 4:32 remaining after muscling his way to the rim. Dunk held a 60-59 win with 13 seconds remaining in the game but a couple of potential game winning shots did not fall for Panthers.
