The Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division II has earned a reputation over the years as more exciting than the Division I.
Unlike the elite division which has a clear hierarchy in terms of performance, the division II hierarchy is all but absent making the competition more interesting.
The absence of a clear winner was apparent in the opening round of the 2018 season as Novas Academy and Dunk Knights recorded big wins at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu.
Novas silenced the partisan crowd by delivering a 58-51 win over Tudu Galaxy in the first game of the season despite Galaxy heading to the game as favorites to win.
A 15-1 first quarter lead got Novas off to a brilliant start on the back of dominating offensive rebounds and scoring from beyond the arc.
The second game was equally entertaining as Dunk recorded a surprising 60-59 win over Panthers who missed out on qualifying to the elite division last season.
Considering the gulf in experience between the sides, Knights win was quite a shock.
