The 2018 Tema Community Basketball League playoffs tipped off last weekend with a quartet of interesting battles honored at Tema’s Community 4 Court.
However, results were generally bad for big teams in the postseason as Nungua Coldstore was the only side among the top seeds to clinch a win.
Coldstore beat Akatsi Rifles 73-38 in an easy win for the 2016 league champions who look set to progress to the next round.
Second seed Tema Heat lost 36-46 to seventh seed Teshie Rangers who looked revved up for the tie and dominated the boards and challenged shots.
Defending champions Tema Community 4 lost 27-33 to bitter rival Tema Community 2 in a scrappy game that failed to live up to expectations.
Third seed Francophone Stars also suffered a rather surprising result 33-36 loss to Teshie Vikings in a very physical contest.
This season’s playoff games are being played in the best of three game series’ meaning another loss for Heat, Community 4 and Francophone on Sunday October 21 will see the top seeds eliminated.
