Golden Star Resources Chief Executive Officer Sam Coetzer has opined advancing young Africans is at the core of his firm’s corporate social responsibility objectives.

He made the statement on the company’s official Twitter page in the aftermath of the third Giants of Africa Camp held in Ghana.

The Not for Profit organization’s latest camp in the West Africa was the third edition and first to be held outside the capital city, Accra.

Golden Star partnered with GOA for this year’s camp and built a recreational center fitted with two basketball courts for the program.

“Promoting the advancement of African young people is at the heart of our #CSR objectives so supporting the work of @GiantsofAfrica was a clear choice for GSR” Coetzer said.

This year’s camp had 54 young basketball players participate; players were selected from various locations in the nation.

GOA was founded in 2003 by Toronto Raptors General Manager Masai Ujiri with Godwin Owinje who headlined the contingent to Ghana’s program from October 12-14.
