The 2018-2019 GSP Basketball League season start date has delayed for over a month but is close to commencing per reports gathered.

This follows a successful round of preseason games played at the Eusbett Court in Sunyani recently with nine teams participating.

One of the major features for the upcoming season is the increase of participating teams from eight to 10; the league has had an eight team roster since its inception in 2015.

Nine teams participated in the warm up games including six teams from last season’s roster and two new teams set to make their debuts when the league tips off.

Defending Champions Suncity Braves, Sunyani Technical University and Catholic University College, Ghana (CUCG) Saints played in the preseason.

Techiman Merchants, Young Boys and Spartans are the new faces that featured at the Eusbett Court and likely additions for the new season.

Financial issues and administrative challenges have plagued the start of the new season. Two time winners Braves are favorites to win another title.
