Teshie Vikings and Teshie Rangers recorded big wins in Game One of the 2018 Tema Community Basketball League over the weekend.
The Teshie duo wasn’t tipped by many to walk away with wins over Tema Heat and Francophone Stars in the three game postseason series.
Despite entering the playoffs with lower seeds, Vikings piped Stars to clinch a 36-33 win and a lead in the series for a spot in the second round.
Rangers topped second seed Tema Heat 46-36 in one of two major upsets in the four game postseason opening round.
Vikings are playing in the league for the first time but have several players who have featured in the league’s previous editions to cope well.
Another win on Sunday, October 21 qualifies both Teshie clubs to the next round which will be a first for the teams who impressed mightily two days ago.
Tema Community 2 delivered the round’s other big result with a 33-27 win over defending champions Tema Community 4.
2016 Champions Nungua Coldstore run away with a 73-38 win over Akatsi Rifles.
