Tema Community 2 got the better of homeside and defending Tema Community Basketball League Champions Tema Community 4 earlier tonight.
C2 clinched a 33-27 win over bitter rival C4 in the final game of the first round of this year’s playoffs. Despite the intensity and desire to get a win, the game was poor and for long stretches was too physical to enjoy.
Brian Kwami scored five points in a 13-7 first quarter lead for Tema Community 4 with Community 2 getting points from Kofi Attafuah, Jeffrey Djimatey and Yaw Afrifa early on in the game.
The second quarter hardly thrilled as Community 4 led 15-9 but C2 opened the third quarter on a six point run as Attafuah, Prince Owusu scoring on C4 turnovers to tie the score at 15.
Richard Afedzie drained a beautiful turnaround jumper and a fade away jumper to give C2 a 21-19 lead after Tema found its shooting touch after a slow third quarter start.
C2 Guard Djimatey scored a big three point shot to give his side a 29-26 lead and on the way to morale boosting win. Game 2 takes place at the same venue on October 21.
