After two failed attempts, Tema Youth has finally clinched a win over Adenta Leoprads this season in the third fixture between the exciting teams.
Tema clinched a 65-59 win over Adenta earlier tonight at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu in the final game for both teams.
However, in the aftermath of the close fought contest, Leopards had the last laugh as the team ended the season in second place ahead of third placed Tema.
Leopards took a quick 8-0 lead in the game before Tema’s Cedric Nambi scored four straight points. Tema took a 12-10 first quarter lead after Nambi stole the ball from Thomas Amedeku to score a layup.
Both teams traded points early in the second quarter but Tema capitalized on turnovers from Adenta to lead 28-15 with 2:46 remaiming in the quarter. Brian Kwami scored six points in the run.
Kwame Boamah Djan got in on the act scoring after gathering an offensive rebound. Amedeku ended Adenta’s scoreless run with a deep three point shot to end the first quarter trailing 18-34
Leopards bagged a couple of baskets but Tema got back in with a three point shot from Mark Mensah. Mawukor Kwami stepped off the bench to score a layup and a three point shot before Muhaimin Guba buried a jump shot in a seven point run for Adenta. Quarter ended 50-34 with Tema leading.
Leopards continued its good momentum in the final quarter as Kontor Appiah scored five points including a three point play to trim Tema’s lead to 10 (52-42)
Mawukor Kwami scored two from the free throw line before Amedeku converted a three point shot to make score Leopards 47-52 Tema with 4:06 remaining.
Godwin Tetteh scored to cut Tema’s lead to two 54-52 with 2:05 left. Scored remained close but Tema held on to clinch a 65-59 win.
