Tunisia’s National Male Basketball Team starting Center Salah Mejri is relishing his return to the setup and his country’s return to the FIBA World Cup.
The North African nation and Nigeria are the first nations on the continent to secure spots at next year’s event to be held in China.
Despite two rounds of games left to play in the African qualifiers, the reigning African Champions nine straight wins was enough to progress ahead of Angola and Egypt who are yet to confirm their places in China.
The Dallas Mavericks shot blocker returned to the national team after a three year absence and is returning to the World Cup after his appearance in 2010 in Turkey.
He highlighted this in an interview with FIBA stating:
“I’m looking forward to the World Cup in China. I’m really excited to be with my national team and competing against the best guys and teams of the world again. We would like to make people back in Africa and home proud of us” he said.
