Not for Profit Organization Giants of Africa (GOA) Local Coordinator Neequaye Kotei has expressed his displeasure about basketball’s tag in Ghana’s sporting fraternity.
Kotei stated in a recent interview on basketball program “Courtside” which airs on local channel Kwese Free Sports ahead of GOA’s Camp next week.
He said, “It irks me that basketball is tagged as a lesser known sport” in the interview. The term “lesser known” is wrongly used in Ghana to describe sports disciplines financial state.
Despite the West African nation being dominated by football and boxing, basketball has grown a lot over the years especially among the country’s youth that form the audience for GOA’s Camp.
Ghana’s Female side is set to compete at the African 3×3 Championship in Togo on November 9 after qualifying from the regional competition.
This year’s Camp will be held from October 12-14 in Prestea in partnership with Golden Star Resources; the Camp was previously held in 2015 and 2016.
54 young players will participate in the2018 Camp.
