Nigeria has made the biggest jump in the latest FIBA Women’s World Ranking with USA retaining its number one spot.
The African Champions’ magical run in the just ended World Cup where D’Tigress finished eighth was the main reason behind the team’s jump into the top 20.
Nigeria moved up 15 places after becoming the first African nation to reach the quarterfinals at the World Cup recording three wins in six games in the tournament which held in Spain.
Prior to the tournament, Nigeria ranked 34th in the world but now occupies 19th place in the world standings as the biggest mover.
Senegal did not have the best tournament recording just a 70-69 win over Latvia at the World Cup but stays in the top 20 in 17th place.
The West African nation ended the competition 12th out of the 16 team roster where the record African Nations Championship winners failed qualify from Group B.
Belgium moved up 12 places to 16th place after finishing fourth in Spain and reigning World Champions USA stayed on top.
