Ghana Center Amida Brimah is in line to face NBA side Denver Nuggets early on Saturday morning after getting a surprise call up to Australian side Perth Wildcats.
Wildcats feature in Australia’s National Basketball League (NBL) and is currently on tour in the US playing preseason games against NBA teams.
The team lost 72-130 to Utah Jazz a few days back with Utah and Australia Guard Dante Exum playing in the game. Veterans Ricky Rubio and reigning Defensive Player of the Year Rudy Gobert featured in the matchup.
However, the surprise call up of Brimah is down to an injury to Angus Brandt; Brimah is a free agent after getting waived by San Antonio Spurs.
He has a brief history with the Nuggets working out for the team ahead of the 2017 NBA Draft after graduating from University of Connecticut.
Brimah is a top shot blocker and defender who played in the NBA’s Gatorade League last season for Austin Spurs leading them to the title.
He led the league in blocks and was named to the All Defensive Team.
