San Antonio Spurs have registered its first preseason win with a 104-100 victory over Miami Heat with the 2018-2019 NBA season set to commence on October 16.
Spurs new boys DeMar DeRozan and Jakob Poeltl scored seven and six points respectively; Poeltl added 10 rebounds.
Ghana Center Amida Brimah was not on Spurs roster after getting waived off prior to the contest despite signing a contract with the team mere days ahead.
Brimah signed an Exhibit 10 contract with San Antonio making him eligible to secure one of a pair of Two Way contracts for Spurs.
However, that possibility was quickly dashed as Brimah and three other players including Olivier Hanlan were cut from the team.
This is the second time Amida has been waived off Spurs roster before the start of an NBA season; last season, Brimah participated in preseason games for the five time NBA Champions before his release.
He featured for San Antonio’s development side in the Gatorade League and helped the team win the league title while leading the league in blocks.
His next move is yet to be known.
