Africa’s representatives at the just ended 2018 FIBA Women’s World Cup in Spain-Nigeria and Senegal-have ended the competition in eighth and 12th place respectively.

The duo clinched important wins in the tournament but could not secure progress into the medal spots after losses accrued later in the competition.

Nigeria however, made history becoming the first African nation to make the quarterfinals after a hard fought 57-56 win over Greece.

D’Tigress did lose three games on the bounce to finish eighth in the final classification of the competition which had winners USA at the top.

Senegal picked up an important 70-69 win over Latvia to send the European nation packing after just games in the tournament but lost to third place Spain in a decisive game for a quarterfinal spot.

The West African nation ended up in 12th place out of 16 nations that participated in the tournament. Australia came second with Belgium in fourth.
