GSP Basketball League Public Relations Officer Daniel Addo has stated sorting out jersey deals is a major reason the 2018-2018 season start date was postponed.
The new season was due to tip off this weekend on Saturday, September 22 at the Eusbett Court in Sunyani but was postponed.
In an exclusive chat with Basketballghana.com, Addo fingered jersey and team registration matters were reasons behind the postponement.
He said, “Clubs are trying to get all jersey deals and registration done before [the] regular season. Pretty sure season starts this week”.
Should the league commence this week, it is bound to have a different feel since the roster is set to have ten teams participating.
Since its inception in 2015, the league has had eight teams contend for the league trophy with a heavy presence of tertiary education institutions.
A member of the tertiary contingent, University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), won the 2016-2017 season. Suncity Braves head to the season as defending champions after beating UENR to the last season’s title.
