Jimmy Butler’s camp is unhappy about reports that the four-time All-Star requested to be traded by the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Per Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times, one source in Butler’s camp described the rumor Butler asked to be dealt due to his contract as being “manufactured” by Minnesota’s “ownership mouthpieces.”

The Athletic’s Shams Charania and Jon Krawczynski reported on Wednesday that Butler requested a trade and gave Minnesota a shortlist of teams he preferred to play for.

Per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Butler has the Los Angeles Clippers at No. 1 on his list of destinations, with the Brooklyn Nets and New York Knicks not far behind.

Cowley’s source added that Butler believes “you can’t run down a dynasty like Golden State when two of the so-called dogs in the pack are in fact kittens.”

Per Charania, there has been tension between Butler and his Minnesota teammates, including Andrew Wiggins and Karl-Anthony Towns. It’s said Towns is waiting to sign a max extension until the situation with Butler is resolved.

Butler led the T’Wolves with 22.2 points per game last season. He helped the team make the playoffs for the first time in 15 years, though they were eliminated in the first round by the Houston Rockets.
