Navy Warriors have qualified to the final game of the CAP 7 Memorial Basketball Tournament to be played tomorrow at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu.
The team clinched a hard fought 31-29 win over Adabraka CYO earlier today in the first semifinal of the Men’s Division.
Warriors take on Adenta Leopards in the final after Adenta beat Tema Youth 42-32 in the other semifinal game of the competition organized to honour departed Accra Basketball League Chairman (ABL) Benjamin Baafi.
The contest lacked fluidity and both teams were culpable of underperforming offensive output resulting in the low scoring result.
Warriors Center Eric Adoku got the go ahead buckets from the free throw line late in the game to get his side the big win.
Qualifying to the finals marks a remarkable turnaround in form for Warriors who are sixth in the nine team ABL standings with five wins in 15 games.
Warriors ended the second quarter on a high scoring seven straight points including a three point shot from Sylvester Asirifi. The first half CYO 13-21 Warriors.
CYO made a good start to the third quarter scoring seven points to close the deficit to one (20-21) with 4:36 remaining. The quarter ended 26-25 with Warriors still leading.
The game’s score remained close as both teams missed shots in the final quarter. Warriors led 30-29 with 3:28 remaining before Adoku scored crucial free throws down the stretch to clinch the win.
