Adenta Leopards scored a win over Tema Youth early this season in the Accra Basketball League (ABL) and repeated the outcome earlier tonight at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu.
Leopards beat Tema 42-32 in the semifinal of the CAP 7 Memorial Basketball Tournament to progress to the final game to be played tomorrow.
Adenta comes up against Navy Warriors in the finals following Warriors 31-29 win over Adabraka in the first semifinal game.
It sets up an interesting clash as both teams are yet to taste defeat in the nine day competition; CAP 7 tipped off on Friday, September 14.
A familiar theme that has run through Tema’s play this season has been poor starts in games and the same instance panned out tonight as Leopards stormed to 17-6 lead before Tema’s offense got rolling.
Tema Youth made an error ridden start and got beaten on offensive rebounds against Adenta Leopards. Leopards recorded an 11-5 first quarter lead.
Leopards run away with 17-6 lead in the second quarter but Tema Team got a spark from the bench with Brian Kwami and Moses Abu scoring.
Suleman Abubakar who joined Adenta for this competition kept Tema at bay with a pair of tip ins. Leopards led 21-16 at the end of the first half. Kwame Mawukor headlined the third quarter with a dominant display to give Leopards a 32-21 lead.
Teams traded shots but Leopards maintained its lead via a 38-29 score with 5:28 minutes remaining to end the game and progress to the final game.
