Nigeria Forward Al-Farouq Aminu has been ranked 100th in NBA player ratings by renowned media firm ESPN ahead of the new season.
Aminu who plays for Portland Trailblazers in the world’s best basketball league, made it into the top 100 players ranked in the controversial poll.
It represents a step forward for the eighth overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft who struggled in his early seasons in the league.
The 6 foot 9 inch player averaged a solid 9.3 points and 7.6 rebounds in 30 minutes last season but his numbers improved in the playoffs.
He averaged 17.3 points and nine rebounds in four games against New Orleans Pelicans who swept the Blazers. Last season, Aminu was not ranked.
Al-Farouq recently participated in Nigeria’s 2019 World Cup qualifiers and helped D’Tigers clinch a place in China next year. Aminu was part of the West African nation’s African Nations Championship (AfroBasket) triumph in 2015.
Nigeria will play at the World Cup for the first time since 2006.
