Top duo, Senegal and Angola will have to wait another round to confirm its participation at the next FIBA World Cup after suffering defeats in the final of three games played over this past weekend.

Both nations featured in the second round of qualifiers for the 2019 World Cup to be held in China and missed out on booking spots.

Angola lost 64-84 to Tunisia in Tunis while Senegal lost the West African matchup against Nigeria 61-89 at the National Stadium in Lagos.

Nigeria and Tunisia featured at the 2017 African Nations Championship (AfroBasket) final game with Tunisia winning the crown. Both teams have qualified to China.

Losing to the 2017 AfroBasket finalists means Angola has 15 points in Group E three points behind Tunisia who have won all nine games.

Senegal trails Nigeria by two with D’Tigers leading Group F with 18 points and Teranga Lions in second place with 16 points.

Central African Republic earned an important 68-61 win over Rwanda to place third in Group F.
