Akatsi Rifles are out of contending for a spot in the Tema Community Basketball League playoffs but that didn’t stop Rifles from clinching a morale boosting win.
The team beat Francophone Stars 45-37 in the last round of league games played at the Tema Community 4 Court over this past weekend.
The win is Akatsi’s third win this season in 16 games leaving the side with two more fixtures to honor in the 2018 regular season.
Point Guard Makafui Agudzumegah was the hero of the day for Rifles as in many standout games for his side since its debut in the league in 2017.
Trailing 19-24 at the end of third quarter, Agudzumegah’s strong third quarter showing was the turning point in the game especially from Rifles perspective.
He completed two three point plays and converted a pair of three point shots to overturn Akatsi’s deficit and give Rifles a 25-24 lead heading to the final quarter.
Francophone will feature in the postseason in its debut season in the league.
