Warriors have snatched a big win over rival Tema Youth in the CAP 7 Memorial Basketball Tournament at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu.
Tema fell 55-75 to Warriors in the first game in the Men’s Division of the competition held to pay respect to departed Accra Basketball League (ABL) Chairman Benjamin Baafi.
In the ABL, Tema recorded a stunning 66-64 win over Warriors with just five players on the roster, supreme shooting in the third quarter from Warriors doomed Tema.
The teams will be in action again with Warriors facing Teshie Rangers and Tema taking on Tudu Galaxy on Sunday September 16.
Team found it difficult to score early as Warriors took a 6-2 lead with Forward Yannick Mbemba starting for Warriors. Tema battled back to tie the score at 10 with 2:00 minutes left to play.
Kent Fosu drained one of two free throws to give Tema an 11-10 lead with 1:56 left. Warriors Guard Sylvester Esirifie scored on a drive to give Warriors a 15-13 first quarter lead
First half ended 29-25 with Warriors in the lead with Guard Brian Kwami getting ejected early on in the second quarter.
Emmanuel Sarkor delivered an early three point shot to give Warriors a 34-29 lead. Warriors rode on the back of a good three point shooting third quarter to move into the final quarter with a 55-36 lead; Sarkor, Esirifie and Nana Tuffour drained three pointers.
