Former league Administrator Baafi.

The maiden edition of the CAP 7 Memorial Basketball Tournament tips off later today at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu.

The tournament has been put together in honour of former Accra Basketball League (ABL) Chairman Benjamin “Capito” Baafi.

Ghana Police Service Female Team plays Ghana Fire Service in the opening game at 16:00 GMT and Tema Youth takes on Warriors in the follow up game in the Male Division.

CAP 7 was coined from Baafi’s nickname “Capito” and the jersey number 7 he wore during his playing days at club and international level.

He passed away last year after serving in various managerial roles on the Ghanaian scene following a battle with illness and tonight’s event is the first of what Basketballghana.com believes will be aan annual celebration of the legendary figure.

The Lebanon House Court will host the event which runs from September 14-22 and have eight and six teams compete in the Male and Female Divisions respectively.

Baafi’s former team Braves of Customs will compete in the Women’s Division and is scheduled to play tomorrow against Reformers of Prisons at 15:00 GMT.
