A new phase for the Kumasi Basketball League is set to take flight as the new look KBL is close to commencing in Ghana’s Ashanti Regional capital.
Per reports reaching Basketballghana.com, the new season is rumored to start in 2019 with eight teams to compete in the league.
Kumasi has head a league for several years but it has been plagued by several challenges chief among them, finances, which forced the competition into several stops over the years.
Top Ghanaian basketball firm “Clockwork” is heavily connected to the rise of the new look league; the firm recently kitted Ghana’s representatives at the FIBA Africa 3×3 Zone 3 Championship which had Ghana’s Female side qualify to the continental Championship.
Asafo Klicks, Ashanti Royals, Asawasi Comets and Ayeduase Snipers represent one half of the league’s roster set to roll in a few months.
Asokwa Heroes, Chiefs Basketball Academy, Patasi Invaders and Razors Basketball represent the other half of competing teams in the league.
Chiefs Academy is a former Ghana Basketball Awards winner.
