San Antonio Spurs have signed Forward/Center Chimedzie Metu after drafting him 49th overall in the 2018 NBA Draft; Metu played three seasons at University of Southern California.
Born to a Nigerian father in Los Angeles, Metu can opt to play for either country though it was reported after this year’s Draft, he is leaning towards representing USA.
Terms of his contract were not announced in what mostly believe is a multi year contract which will see him play for San Antonio at least for two seasons.
Metu featured in five games in the Summer League and registered 11.4 points, 7.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 21.4 minutes in the pre season tournament.
His signing comes at a time competition is heating up with the new NBA season just over a month away with battling for a spot on the training camp roster.
Metu will be in direct competition with Ghana Center Amida Brimah who is with San Antonio’s Training Camp team for the second time after making a similar appearance last season.
He was assigned to Sours affiliate Gatorade League side and is pushing for a run with the main team.
