Dalex Finance SWIFT Hoops 3×3 Basketball Tournament set up a grand, show stopping finish to what has been a very successful week for 3×3 Basketball in Ghana.
The competition exclusively for players in Ghana’s tertiary institutions ended on Friday August 24 at the Aviation Social Center with Legon Guerillas winning gold.
The team representing University of Ghana (UG) clinched an 11-10 win over Royals of Radford University College in the final game. Guerillas walked away with 4000 Ghana Cedis, a trophy and items from Dalex Finance SWIFT.
The series of exciting games highlighted immense room for the sport’s growth in the West African nation which is picking up the pace on the international stage as well.
From August 16-17, Ghana competed in the FIBA Africa 3×3 Zone 3 Championship in Cotonou, Benin where the country was represented in the Male and Female Divisions.
Ghana’s Female Team qualified from the zone and will play at the African stage from November 9-11 in Lome, Togo with a chance to qualify to the World Cup.
As a result, Ghana’s rank has improved to 94th in the world and 13th on the continent.
