3×3 Basketball has immense potential to grow in Ghana and Africa according to SWIFT Product Manager Beauty Olerkie Larbie.

She made the statement in the aftermath of SWIFT Hoops 3×3 Basketball Tournament’s maiden edition which concluded at the Aviation Social Center in Ghana’s capital, Accra.

The tournament exclusively featured players from various universities and colleges in Ghana compete in the fast rising form of basketball.

24 teams played in the competition with Legon Guerillas representing University of Ghana (UG) winning the title ahead of Royals of Radford University College.

Speaking after the event, Larbie was impressed with the turnout at the event and level of competition from the young players.

“It’s great talent and for 3 on 3, it doesn’t have a lot of exposure even in Africa. This is a sport that we can grow if only people will give a lot of attention to it” she said.

Teams representing Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, University of Energy and Natural Resources and Pentecost University College featured in the competition.

Guerillas and Royals walked away with 4000 and 2000 Ghana Cedis respectively. Joel Kwame Opoku was named Most Valuable Player with Hassan Bajigah and Gustav Mensah winning the Slam Dunk and Three Point Shooting Contests respectively.
