The Australian Women’s Senior National Basketball Team will feature at this year’s FIBA World Cup in September in Spain.
The competition will be played from September 22-30 and feature 16 teams; ahead of the start of the tournament, the final roster for the Opals has been released.
Experienced Center Liz Cambage, who went into the Olympics history books as the first Female Basketball Player to dunk in a game, headlines the group.
Cambage suits for WNBA side Dallas Wings is an MVP candidate in the just ended regular season following her return to the league.
Coach Sandry Brondello announced the final list earlier today and the group features fellow WNBA players Stephanie Talbot and Leilani Mitchell.
Australia placed third at the last World Cup held in Turkey in 2014 and has been placed in Group B alongside Nigeria, Argentina and Nigeria.
Nigeria won the African Championship last year and recently appointed former Sacramento Kings Assistant Coach Otis Hughley. Below is the full Australian roster for next month’s competition:
