Senegal President Macky Sall has delivered on his promise to the country’s National Women’s Basketball Team by overseeing the construction of the brand new multi purpose Dakar Arena.
The new edifice seats 15,000 people and has boxing, wrestling, tennis and other sports amenities housed in the eye catching structure.
Dakar Arena is located in Diamniadio which is 30 kilometers away from the West African nation’s capital Dakar was built by Turkish investors in collaboration with the country’s sports authorities.
Speaking at the opening of the grand building, President Sall referred to his statement following Senegal’s win at the 2015 AfroBasket which centered on delivering a world class facility for the nation.
“This arena is a response to the promise I made to our national women’s basketball team in the wake of her victory as an African champion and here we are today,Dakar Arena is for you basketball world” he said according to FIBA.com
Senegal’s Female Team is preparing to play in the World Cup which takes place in Spain from September 22-30.
