Team Africa is going hard for its maiden win in the NBA Africa Game later this week according to Captain Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia Sixers.
This year’s game will be played in Pretoria, South Africa on Saturday August 4 in what will be the third edition of the anticipated exhibition game.
The matchup features NBA players of African descent (Team Africa) and NBA players from other continents (Team World).
In the previous editions played in 2015 and 2017, Team World has recorded two straight wins including a 108-97 win last year.
Going into tomorrow’s game, Embiid has stated his team’s intention to clinch Africa’s first win in the prestigious game which climaxes the NBA’s weeklong activities in South Africa.
“I was here last year, I had a lot of fun, I’m happy to be here…I want to win, obviously, make a statement in my first game in Africa” he said in an interview with NBA.com
Team World is led by Hassan Whiteside and Khris Middleton on Miami Heat and Milwaukee Bucks.
