The 2018 National Unity Games have been postponed until further notice Basketballghana.com can confirm following recent development ahead of the anticipated competition.
This year’s games were scheduled to commence on August 12 at the Robert Mensah Stadium in Cape-Coast with teams representing Ghana’s ten regions in line to compete for top honours in several sports disciplines.
Athletes had started preparations to feature in basketball, boxing, wheelchair basketball, table tennis, tennis, volley ball among others.
The announcement was made through an official letter from Games Planning Committee Chairman Professor H.A. Pufaa a few minutes ago.
Strengthening preparations of Ghana’s contingent towards the next All African Games has been named as the reason behind the postponement.
The African Games will be held in Morocco next year; Ghana has had a controversy filled run at the continental games in recent editions.
A new date is yet to be announced and the announcement is set to put team officials and player’s plans in disarray since preparations were already underway.
The Greater Accra Region’s Male Basketball Team announced its roster and planned a training session tonight at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu.
