Angola got its 2018 FIBA World U17 World Cup campaign off to a bad start as the African side lost its opening game to Australia.
Angola fell 43-81 to the Asian powerhouse in the penultimate game on the first day of competition in Belarus capital Minsk.
The Group D fixture followed Latvia’s 51-65 loss to Canada in the other group game; the final game on Day One had host nation Belarus clinch a 79-75 overtime win over Colombia.
The loss marks Africa’s second straight loss in the tournament following Mali’s 49-69 loss to China in the competition’s first game.
Mali is in Group A alongside China, France and Japan; France beat Japan 60-53 to place in second in the group behind China.
Angola will be in action later today against Canada at 15:15 GMT and Mali faces a daunting task against USA at 12:30 GMT.
16 teams are participating in the tournament which runs from July 21 to July 29; the knockout phase commences on July 27.
