San Antonio Spurs will not compete for the Las Vegas Summer League crown it won months ago following the team’s inability to progress from the preliminary stage in this year’s edition.
Spurs lost 55-90 to Phoenix Suns with both teams out of the second round; the loss was San Antonio’s fourth in five games.
Ghana Center Amida Brimah gave a good account of himself scoring eight points, gathering three rebounds and blocking two shots in 23 minutes as a starter.
Brimah’s Summer League teammate Lonnie Walker has signed a contract with Spurs while Small Forward Rudy Gay has been resigned to a one year, $10 million deal.
This follows his six blocks production against Milwaukee Bucks and added four points and eight rebounds in the game.
Brimah is in line to pick up a spot on the main team as a backup Center to starter Pau Gasol. This is Brimah’s second stint with San Antonio following last year’s run.
He ended up on the team’s NBA Gatorade League affiliate team Austin and won the league with them while leading the league in blocks.
