The third round of African qualifiers to the 2019 FIBA World Cup in China has ended after a three day competition on the continent.

Following the conclusion of games, Chad, Central African Republic and Rwanda made surprise progress from respective groups.

The likes of Egypt and Ivory Coast joined the trio above to complete the 12 team roster to battle for Africa’s five spots in China next year.

Chad sealed its spot with an 80-49 win over Guinea on the final day joining Tunisia and Cameroon from Group A in the next phase; this is a remarkable feat for the nation which came in as replacement for South Africa who withdrew.

Group C host Egypt avoided the embarrassment of missing out on progression by beating Morocco 59-53 in the all North African showdown.

Morocco had sealed its place in the final round heading to the game and Egypt went hard at them to secure the much needed win.

The win was enough to hold off Democratic Republic of Congo for the remaining spot in the group. Angola qualified as Group winners.
