Ben Bentil’s career in Europe has not taken off as expected following an indifferent season with French side Champagne Chalons-Reims.

Matters worsened in Spain at RetaBet Bilbao Basket after departing France as Bilbao’s relegation from the Endesa League was confirmed a week ago.

In his short professional career, the 6 foot 8 inch Forward has played for NBA outfit Dallas Mavericks and Xinjiang Guanghui Flying Tigers in China.

However, the former Providence College player made a positive impact in the NBA Gatorade League for Fort Wayne Mad Ants.

In 20 games for the Indiana Pacers affiliate, Bentil averaged 12.1 points and 4.6 rebounds while connecting 50 of 125 field goal attempts.

His performance earned him a ten day contract with Mavericks making him the first Ghana born player to play in the NBA.

Given his downturn in form in Europe and contrasting form in America, it is likely the Sekondi-born player will return to the league fellow Ghanaian player Aida Brimah starred in last season with Champions Austin Spurs.
