Adenta Leopards winning streak now stands at four following an 88-79 win over Reformers of Prisons in the Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division I.
Leopards clinched the nine point win earlier today at the Aviation Social Center as part of activities marking Accra based radio station Hitz FM’s “Rep your Jersey” event.
Turnovers hurt Reformers down the line after the team cut Leopards 15 points third quarter lead to seven in the final quarter.
Nana Owusu Afriyie hit a three point shot to stretch Leopards lead to 38-28 but five points from Caleb Gomashie including a three point shot was Reformers immediate response.
Leopards got a layup to fall before Aziz Mohammed of Reformers tipped in a rebound to end the second quarter 37-45 with Leopards in the lead.
The two sides exchanged baskets in a frantic opening minutes in the third quarter as both teams were guilty of committing several turnovers.
Muhaimin Guba scored a beautiful turn around jump shot to give Leopards a 62-51 lead with 1:56 remaining. Reformers got a couple of fastbreak baskets to end the third quarter trailing 53-68.
Afriyie buried a floater and a difficult jump shot while Reformers Raymond Abagi drained a three point shot to begin proceedings in the final quarter.
Abagi added two more three pointers to make the score Reformers 64-72 Leopards.
A beautiful behind the back pass from Nii Ayi to Philip Barley ended up in a layup for Reformers to trim Prisons deficit to seven (71-78).
However, Prisons coughed the ball up many times down the stretch which ended in easy baskets for Leopards. Amos Ollenu of Prisons acrobatic up and under layup did little to save his side from a second straight loss.
