Ghana Forward Ben Bentil is likely to leave RetaBet Bilbao Basket following the team’s drop from the Spanish Endesa League.
The drop from the top division was confirmed following the team’s 73-82 loss to UCAM Murcia at the Bilbao Arena of Miribilla.
The loss was Bilbao’s 25th in the season with just one round remaining in the regular season; the team has won just eight games heading to Round 34.
Bilbao’s loss to Murcia was the former’s sixth consecutive defeat keeping the team in 17th place in the standings just one spot ahead of bottom ranked side Real Betis.
This is a crushing blow to Bentil’s career in Spain which got off to a good start with the 6 foot 8 inch versatile Forward score in double digits.
The former Providence College product transferred from French Pro A side Champagne Chalons-Reims who survived its relegation battle.
Following his ten day contract with Dallas Mavericks, a top performance in Europe would have been a great way back to the NBA for Bentil. Bilbao plays 14th ranked Burgos in the final round.
