The 2017 Tema Basketball League Final game between Tema Community 4 and Ashaiman Lions ended in an unpleasant way this past weekend.
The biggest game of Week 7 had Lions abandon the matchup midway through the third quarter 22-25 due to what the team deemed unfair treatment from game officials.
Despite multiple efforts to get Lions back in the game, the team decided to leave the court after an ejection call on Forward Dennis Dugbennu was not overturned.
That came after two straight technical fouls were slapped on the team for protesting vehemently in the course of the game.
This is the first time a team has abandoned a game forfeiting points in the process; the abrupt end proved to be an anticlimax to a competitive game.
It also proved to be Lions first loss of the 2018 season after going five games without a loss; Lions has 11 points from winning five of six games.
Community 4 led 13-11 and 21-17 respectively in the opening quarters.
