The 2017-2018 GSP Basketball League concluded on May 5 at the Eusbett Court in Sunyani following the completion of games in Week 14.
The compelling league handed out awards to top performers in the campaign with Suncity Braves walking away with the top team prize.
Braves topped the standings with 26 points after beating LIR Royals 41-39 while defending league champions and league leaders University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) crashed to a 39-40 overtime loss.
That proved to be the key Braves second title win after clinching the 2016 league trophy. Braves Center Isaac Amponsah was named Most Valuable Player of the season.
LIR Royals dominated the nominees list with three players nominated for the award.
Amponsah’s averages of 14 points and two blocks per game were decisive in Suncity’s league success and he was duly rewarded with the top individual prize.
Ibrahim Khalid of Barracks Scorpions led the team’s youth revolution as the star man guiding Scorpions to place sixth in the standings.
