Tema Basketball League debutant Francophone Stars have delivered its biggest win thus far in its debut season in the community league.
Francophone starred in the final game of Sunday’s fixtures at Tema’s Chinese Court to clinch a 39-27 win over home side Community 4.
Beating last season’s champions is big for Francophone Stars who headed into the fixture with two wins in three games.
However, Community 4’s unbeaten run has come to an end; prior to the game, C4 had won three straight games in the league.
Last season’s champions will have to regroup ahead of upcoming challenges including those against top sides Ashaiman Lions and Nungua Coldstore.
Getting past C4 makes up for the close loss to 2016 league winners Coldstore in Week Two; Stars lost 48-50 to Nungua in overtime but missed several free throws down the stretch.
Community 4 moves to the top of the standings ahead of Tema Heat and Francophone on goal difference; Heat was inactive in the last round.
