Suncity Braves Center Isaac Amponsah has been named Most Valuable Player of the 2017-2018 GSP Basketball League.
Amponsah played a starring role in Braves second league title which was secured over the weekend at the Eusbett Court in Sunyani.
A 41-39 win over LIR Royals proved and University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR)’s 39-41 loss to Desert Rabbits was enough to clinch the title.
Braves and UENR headed to the final round tied on 24 points but the latter was in first place due to a bigger goal difference.
The hulking Center imposed his will on the league and was a frontrunner for the award as his side continued to impress through the season.
He averaged 14 points and 2.3 blocks per game this season to beat out competition from Abdul Rashid, Atta Bennett and Andrew Quansah of LIR Royals to the crown.
Braves won the league in 2016 but lost the 2017 crown to UENR. Amponsah replaces UENR Guard Robert Fiifi Brew as MVP.
