Defending Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division I Champions Braves of Customs recorded its second win of the season by beating Reformers of Prisons 72-54 earlier today.
The game was played at Prisons Court in Cantonments and had a lot of exciting play from both teams in the first of two games played at the benue; Tudu Magic beat DC Dynamics 57-40 in the other matchup.
Braves opened the game on an 8-0 run before Andrews Ayienab ended run with three point shot. Teammates Isaac Ollenu and Raymond Abagi each scored from distance to leave Prisons trailing 9-11 with 4:46 remaining.
Braves won the first quarter 18-13 and built its five point lead to 14 (38-24) at half time in what tuened out to be a foul prone second quarter.
Customs Center Suleman Abubakar drained jump shot from the free throw circle to give Braves a 43-28 lead as Reformers struggled to get deep three point shots to fall; Braves ended the third quarter leading 51-30.
Reformers opened the last quarter on a 5-2 run with Ollenu scoring a three pointer but Baniba Dodzie drained a deep three to make the score 56-39 with 5:46 remaining.
Veteran Shooting Guard Dodzie added another shot from beyond the arc to end the game 72-54; the loss is Prisons second of the season.
