The 2018 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship has ended with University of Ghana (UG) winning a third straight title.
UG’s record setting win came courtesy a 41-36 win over bitter rival Accra Technical University (ATU) in the fifth edition’s final game.
Sunyani Technical University (STU) made a triumphant return to life in the knockout phase of the UPAC Championship by stealing a 45-39 win over All Nations University College.
The win extended the team’s run of wins in big games in the 2018 competition after topping University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) to top Zone 4 at the preliminary stage.
However, STU missed out on progression from the quarterfinals after failing to hold on to its winning momentum in the remaining games in Group B.
After beating All Nations, STU fell 17-48 to Accra Technical and 33-61 to University of Education-Winneba to finish in third place in the group.
Working on staying alert throughout games will be key in the team’s progress in upcoming editions.
