University of Ghana (UG) Male Basketball Coach Dr. Baba Samori has heaped praise on members of his playing unit for their outstanding talent tagging them as “great”.
He said this in an exclusive chat with Basketballghana.com following UG’s latest win in the just ended Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.
UG beat Accra Technical University (ATU) 41-36 in the 2018 final to clinch its record third straight UPAC title and a second final win over bitter rival ATU.
Quizzed on how long the team’s dominance can last, Dr. Samori said, “As long as we continue to get good players who work hard like the ones we have right now I feel I am a great coach but great coaches are nothing without great players and we got some great players right now”.
Backcourt mates Kwame Opoku and Emmanuel Wolff were singled out for their brilliant play throughout the tournament; the pair split the competition’s best player award.
Opoku and Wolff are members of the 2016 and 2017 winning teams on the current roster.
