Coldstore (blue) had it tough against Francophone Stars

Heat (white) topped Community 2.

Rifles (green and black) stormed to a win over Rockets.
Nungua Coldstore managed to get its 2018 Tema Basketball League season off to a winning start in what turned out to be an exciting matchup against Francophone Stars.

Two weeks into the 2018 season, the game should easily go down as a contender for the best matchup in the campaign.

Coldstore piped Francophone 50-48 in overtime with the game tied at 47 after regulation time; Nungua saw Francophone’s usually reliable Forward Cedric Nambai miss consecutive free throws in overtime to hand the win to Coldstore.

Nungua, the 2016 Tema League Champions had it difficult all game beating Francophone from the inside and needed Guards Jonathan Walker, Emmanuel Wolff, Taufic Mohammed and Edwin Appiah to convert from deep to stay in the game.

Francophone led the game through three quarters on the back of standout performances from the likes of Donald Blay, Yannick Kodua and Obame Gaultien.

The final game of the round lived up to the billing and both teams drew applause from fans for their impressive performances.

Teshie Vikings beat Teshie Rangers 60-43, Tema Heat topped Tema Community 2 52-42 and Akatsi Rifles stunned Tema Rockets with a 38-37 win.
