Accra Technical University (ATU) was made to rue chances it had to clinch a third Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship by University of Ghana (UG).
UG beat ATU 41-46 in the final game of the 2018 UPAC Championship to wins its third title; the win is historic since it marks UG as the first team to win three straight titles in the history of the competition.
However, at the end of the first half, that outcome looked different since Accra Technical led 27-20 after two quarters played.
An Emmanuel Wolff led onslaught in the third quarter got UG back in the game and tied on 31 heading to the final quarter.
Kwame Opoku who shared the Most Valuable Player Award with Wolff, took over in the fourth quarter with his four point play proving to be the game changer.
While UG continued to impress, ATU’s excellent first half display deteriorated with a series of missed three point shots and turnovers.
Falling for the second time to UG in the UPAC Final adds to the sting of that loss.
