University of Education-Winneba (UEW) has clinched third place in the 2018 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.
The Central Region based institution topped Takoradi Technical University (TTU) 46-35 in the bronze medal at the University of Ghana (UG).
Takoradi Technical game got off to a slow start as the team trailed by seven points in the early minutes of the first quarter.
They recovered to score four points before the end of the quarter but could not prevent Winneba from taking a 28-13 first half lead.
TTU’s Samuel Abbey was the star in the game scoring 12 points and three rebounds; he was the sole player to score in double digits for his side.
Divine Avorgbedor scored 11 points adding four rebounds and three assists in the win which marks the team’s return to the podium.
Since placing second in the 2011 edition, UEW has missed out on qualifying to the knockout stage before this year.
For Takoradi Technical, this marls another missed opportunity to clinch the instsitution’s maiden UPAC title.
