University of Education-Winneba (UEW) has clinched a place in the semifinals of the 2018 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.
The team Winnneba based side triumphed over Sunyani Technical University (STU) via a 61-33 win in the final game of the quarterfinals.
By beating STU, UEW qualifies from Group B as the second best side behind group winners Accra Technical University (ATU).
UEW run away with a 33-20 win in the first half and continued to score at will in the remaining quarters of the game.
UEW ends the quarterfinal stage with two wins and a loss; UEW lost 28-49 to two time UPAC Champions ATU in its first outing in the group.
UEW beat All Nations University College 82-50 before clinching its second win over STU; this was both teams first appearance in the quarterfinals since 2011.
It has been a good return to the elite stage for UEW as it prepares to play the host team and defending champions University of Ghana. (UG)
ATU plays Takoradi Technical University in the second semifinal game; both games take place at UG.
