Sunyani Technical University (STU) has joined Accra Technical University (ATU) in the win column in Group B of the 2018 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.

STU beat All Nations University College 45-39 in the second Group B game in Day One of the 2018 UPAC knockout phase taking place at the University of Ghana (UG).

STU was in cruise control heading to the final quarter with 33-26 leading building on a 19-15 lead after the first quarter.

Star man Patrick Asare played a key role in the win with his driving layup halting a seven point run from All Nations that canceled the seven point deficit in the fourth quarter.

Shooting Guard Elvis Pobi-Siaw and Forward Philip Barley scored consecutive layups in the early run but STU fought back to clinch a big win.

The win means Sunyani’s return to the elite stage of the competition ends in a winning effort; STU last played in the UPAC knockout stage in 2011.

Group B action continues tomorrow at the same venue.
