University of Education-Winneba (UEW) Point Guard Jeffrey Djimatey has stated the Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship is a “top competition”.
Djimatey made the statement ahead of the knockout games in this year’s competition which is set to take place at the University of Ghana (UG) from Thursday April 12 to Saturday April 14.
UEW has been drawn in Group B against All Nations University College, Sunyani Technical University (STU) and two time winners Accra Technical University (ATU).
The top two teams progress to the semifinals; this is UEW’s first appearance in the quarterfinals since the maiden UPAC competition in 2011.
With the winner of UPAC’s fifth edition days away from getting crowned, Winneba’s starting Guard took time off to heap glowing praise on the competition.
“The tournament UPAC…has come a long way. It has unearth a lot of talents. It’s a top competition…it’s a big competition for me and for my group of boys” he said.
UEW qualified from Zone 3 in the preliminary stage.
